Bunco Night!

SI LOWL club members took a break from committee planning for 2015 and came together for a night of laughter, camaraderie, and fellowship through Bunco.  Considerations were awarded for first bunco, most buncos, most rounds won, and biggest loser.

The work we do to help women and girls in need can be agonizing at times.  It is hard to learn of the plights Clackamas County citizens may have burdened on them.  Fellowship events revitalize the club members and volunteers that we hold so dear.

January 11, 2015 - National Human Trafficking Awareness Day

Human Trafficking Awareness Day is to dedicated to raising awareness of sexual slavery and human trafficking worldwide. It started in 2007, when the U.S. Senate designated January 11th as National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Although it is a U.S. initiative, the United Nations has begun to highlight this topic and working towards global awareness.

Invited Speaker: Danielle Tudor

Danielle Tudor was a victim of Portland’s infamous “Jogger Rapist” when she was only 17. She has become a national motivational speaker to organizations that aid victims of sexual and domestic violence. Her mission is to encourage, inspire, and thank these groups on behalf of victims. She blogs and describes her experiences as an activist on social media, and is working on a book about her personal journey from rape victim to advocate.

2013 Club Accomplishments to the Community

We have been very excited this year to be able to help many organizations in various ways. Last Christmas through SAVE (Soroptimists Against Violent Environments) we were able to provide gift cards to single mothers with children to buy needed items. We have volunteered on such projects as the annual Strawberry Shortcake event at New Season’s Markets with all monies being distributed to seven women’s shelters in the metro area and our members volunteered at the 13th Annual Child Abuse and Family Violence Summit sponsored by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
